The Metallica Story.

fusion, a group of musicians from the small town of Shreveport, LA, formed in 1986. The three original members were Lars Ulrich (guitar), Dave Mustaine (bass), and John Marshall (drums). After playing some local shows and recording one demo tape, the band was invited to play at the annual Louisiana Drum & Bass Festival. Metallica played for two nights and won Best Band contest. They also met future bassist Kirk Hammett who was with a band called Slayer at the time. Metallica’s first album was released in 1987, and it did well enough that they played four additional shows that year before heading back into the studio to record their second album.
