Best time to visit South Africa
South Africa is a large country with a varied climate that differs significantly between regions. Cape Town and the Western Cape have winter rain (June until August) and a primarily dry, hot summer. However, much of the country, such as the Kruger Park zone, is prone to thundershowers in the summer (December through March) and a more relaxed winter time (May until October).
The only exceptions would be Cape Town, the Garden Route, and the coastal Eastern Cape, where rain can occur throughout the season. The excellent time to travel depends mainly on where you’d prefer to visit the country and what you would like to do and see.
It is a low season from April to August, so it is ideal for watching wildlife. Whales are seen on the Western Cape coast.

Spring flowers bloom between September and November, making it an idyllic time to visit the beaches and explore the Karoo in KwaZulu-Natal.
December through February: Cape accommodation is complete; it’s a bustling, exciting season to be at the Cape.
If you’re planning the perfect Cape Town beach holiday, beating the summer months from November to February is impossible. However, the interior’s temperatures can be rough during this time. It is essential to note that Cape Town experiences its windy season simultaneously. Unless you’re an avid kitesurfer, you may encounter the constant wind party, clearly along the Atlantic shoreline, to be a bit over the top.
Since Cape Town is a trendy tourist destination, you’ll need to book your accommodation in advance if you plan to visit during Christmas or New Year to stay clear of summer heat, winds, and the majority of the crowds, your excellent time to travel to Cape Town is from late March to early April.
The dry winter months of May through Oct. are the desirable seasons for excellent game watching during the South Africa safari in Kruger National Park, Madikwe, Pilanesberg, and KwaZulu-Natal as you’ll see wildlife centered near water sources and are easier to find in less dense bush.
